
Volunteer Information Quinte is the organization that connects people with organizations in need of support.
Here is the VIQ Update for this week:
*Bridge Street United Church in downtown Belleville is looking for people to support their lunch program. The team prepares lunches for the most vulnerable in our community, on Saturdays and Sundays. One person is needed on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., and two more volunteers are desperately needed again on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
*Community Care South Hastings is looking for volunteer drivers. People are needed to help seniors to and from medical appointments. Trip can be local, and in some cases to Toronto or Ottawa. They are also seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels.
*Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors is seeking volunteers to assist with reception duties. The time commitment is three hours a week. Orientation is provided and staff support is readily available.
*VON Hastings, Northumberland, Prince Edward is looking for people to visit seniors in their homes. The visits encourage seniors to continue to live active and independent lives.
*St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store in downtown Belleville is looking for people to help pick-up donations and deliver items to people in the community. Volunteers must be able to drive a cube truck and lift furniture. Morning and afternoon shifts are required, but the time commitment varies.
*Links to Learning is currently seeking volunteers to assist with their one-to-one reading program. This program runs on Monday and Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. High school students looking for volunteers hours are welcome.
*Scouts Canada – Bay of Quinte Group, is looking for adults to assist with Scout programs for students 5 to 17 years old.
*Gift from the Heart is looking for a social media and website wizard. Orientation is provided and you can work remotely based on experience.
*Junior Achievement Northern and Eastern Ontario, is another group looking for people to deliver programs to students at schools. The programs are geared to students from Grades 7 to 12.
*The Habitat For Humanity ReStore in Belleville is looking for people to help with donations, recycling, customer service and creating floor displays.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
