Volunteer Information Quinte is the organization that connects people with programs in need of support.
Here is the VIQ Update for this week:
*Bridge Street United Church in downtown Belleville is looking for people to support their lunch program. The team prepares lunches for the most vulnerable in our community, on Saturdays and Sundays. One person is needed on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., and two more volunteers are desperately needed again on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
*The Trenton Care and Share Food Bank is looking people to help out at their Coldest Night of the Year event. The walk will take place on February 22. Trenton Care and Share Food Bank is looking for 10 to 15 volunteers to help out on event day from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Duties include setting up tables, checking in with walkers and providing assistance over the course of the 5km walk.
*St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store in downtown Belleville is looking for people to help pick-up donations and deliver items to people in the community. Volunteers must be able to drive a cube truck and lift furniture. Morning and afternoon shifts are required, but the time commitment varies.
*Links to Learning is currently seeking volunteers to assist with their one-to-one reading program. This program runs on Monday and Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. High school students looking for volunteers hours are welcome.
*Scouts Canada – Bay of Quinte Group, is looking for adults to assist with Scout programs for students 5 to 17 years old.
*Junior Achievement Northern and Eastern Ontario, is another group looking for people to deliver programs to students at schools. The programs are geared to students from Grades 7 to 12.
*Community Living Prince Edward is looking for social individuals who would like to volunteer their time to meet clients. This opportunity is a great way to build relationships, and share hobbies and crafts with other.
*Community Partners for Success Trenton is seeking individuals to assist as a retail volunteer. Duties include sorting, organizing and fold clothing, assisting individuals to find what they are looking for. Maintain organization in space and greet clients. Orientation and training provided. Monday to Wednesday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
*Community Care Central Hastings is seeking volunteer to deliver meals to seniors in their homes weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers must have their own vehicle, time commitment can be weekly, bi weekly or monthly.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
