
Happy Easter long weekend! Many community events this time of year, would not be possible without the dedication of countless volunteers.
Volunteer Information Quinte is the organization that connects volunteers to a variety of opportunities.
Here is the VIQ Update for this week.
*YMCA of Central East Ontario is seeking volunteers to help out during the Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Campaign. The campaign runs from April 28th to May 4. Cookie decorating shifts are two hours at a time at locations in Belleville. Training is provided.
*The Community Recreation Association at CFB Trenton is looking for people to pitch in during kids programs. They are open to volunteers that are interested in facilitating programming. Activities could include sports, crafts, drama, art, science, etc…
*The Belleville Senators are looking for people to monitor silent auctions and the mystery tables at home games. Duties include handling all transactions, providing customer service, and answering general questions. Orientation and training is provided.
*The City of Belleville is looking for people to help out at the face painting stations during Canada Day weekend. If you are artistic, this is the perfect opportunity. Shifts vary
based on your availability. You will have the opportunity to volunteer with professional face painters. Trainin is provided and high school students are welcome to apply.
*The St Vincent De Paul thrift shop in downtown Belleville is looking for warehouse volunteers. Tasks include monitoring incoming donations, sending donations upstairs on a conveyor belt and
unloading at the top. Other tasks include helping to assemble, move, and fix furniture. Orientation and training is provided by staff. Shifts vary based on your availability.
*Community Living Prince Edward is seeking program assistant volunteers. Ideally these placements would be ongoing in regular intervals.
*Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers to sell 50/50 tickets at Belleville Senators games. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Games can take place on Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday nights and the time commitment would be from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
*Community Partners For Success Quinte West is seeking retail volunteers. Duties include sorting, organizing, and fold clothing, and assisting individuals with finding
items. Hours of operation are Monday to Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Orientation and training is provided by staff.
*Gift From The Heart is currently seeking a social media volunteer. Duties include developing and publishing content for the website and various social media platforms. This is a position where you would have the opportunity to work remotely from home. The time commitment varies.
*VON is looking for volunteers to help out at their Adult Day Program. Volunteers would be helping clients with Alzheimer’s and dementia. They are looking for musicians, singers, or dancers. This can be groups or individuals that can provide a hour of their time to entertain clients. The time commitment is flexible and the sessions happen on weekdays.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
