
Happy National Volunteer Week!
Volunteer Information Quintes is the group that connects volunteers up with organizations in need of support.
Here is the VIQ Update for this week.
*The Community Development Council of Quinte, known as CDC Quinte, is seeking volunteers for administrative support. Duties include answering phones, meeting customers, learning the POS system, organizing files, and event coordination. Orientation and training is provided.
*The City of Belleville is looking for people to help out at the face painting station during Canada Day festivities. Shifts vary based on your availability. You will have the opportunity to volunteer with professional face painters. Training is provided and high school students are welcome to apply.
*St Vincent De Paul Thrift Shop is seeking volunteers to assist in their warehouse. Tasks include monitoring incoming donations, sending donations upstairs on a conveyor belt and unloading at the top. Other tasks include helping to assemble furniture, minor fixes, moving furniture onto the floor, and aiding the staff with some lifting. Orientation and training provided by staff. Shifts vary based on your availability.
*Community Living Prince Edward is looking for program assistant volunteers. Volunteers share their time to socialize, share interests such as crafts, arts, music, cooking, sharing hobbies, sharing a cup of tea, playing cards, or baking. This is an opportunity to build relationships and share skills. Ideally these placements would be ongoing in regular intervals. Supplies are provided.
*Gateway Community Health Centre is seeking volunteers on the second Tuesday each month for the Good Box Distribution, in the Tweed location. Duties include organizing and loading the Food Box into customers’ cars.
*Central Hastings Support Network is seeking volunteers to assist with packing and distribution of food boxes at Helping Hands Food Bank in Madoc. Volunteer position can be a regular weekly commitment, bi-weekly or call-in (after a period of training. Shifts available include Monday 10am – 1pm, Tuesday 6pm – 8pm, Wednesday 10am – 2pm, Thursday 1pm – 4pm.
*Quinte West Youth Centre needs people to supervise and mentor youth between the ages of 10 and 18. Volunteer Lead activities and games during the Youth Centre’s operations creating and inspiring interest in young people and encouraging their involvement. Programs consist of cooking, Arts and Crafts, Recreational Games, Sports, and Homework Help.
*The Quinte Museum of National History in Trenton is looking for special events volunteers. The team also needs people to support school visits and workshops. Orientation and training is provided.
*The National Air Force Museum of Canada is seeking volunteers for their gift shop. Volunteer duties include customer service, labelling, answering the phone, taking special orders, and preparing the mail.
*Museums in Prince Edward County are looking for volunteers at the Macaulay House, Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, Wellington Heritage Museum, Mariners Park Museum and Rose House Museum. Volunteers can assist at the front desk, dress in period costumes and deliver programming.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
