
Volunteers are the backbone of our community, and as the weather starts to warm up, many community organizations and fundraisers need your support.
If you are retired, looking to gain some new skills or give back to the place you call home. Volunteer Information Quinte is the organization that connects you with volunteer opportunities.
Here is the VIQ Update for this week:
*The Community Development Council of Quinte, known as CDC, is looking for volunteers to help answer phones, assist clients at the office, and organize files and documents. Orientation and training is provided.
*The Enrichment Centre is looking for people to deliver daily meals from the Bridge Street United Church to 125 Church Street in Belleville. Duties include loading your personal vehicle with totes full of sandwiches, frozen soup, and desserts. You would also be required to unload the food and return the totes to the church.
*Community Visions and Networking Quinte is looking for board members. Duties include attending monthly hybrid meetings. Those with a background in legal matters, fundraising, human resources, and property management are encouraged to apply. The meeting takes place on the second Thursday of each month.
*The team behind the community gardens in Quinte West is looking for people to pitch in. Duties include assisting with planting and harvesting, along with plants sales and the Doors Open Quinte event.
*Plans are well underway for Canada Day activities in Belleville. The City is looking for volunteer face painters to help out on July 1st. Volunteers would work alongside professional artists.
*The St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store in downtown Belleville is looking for warehouse assistants. Duties include sorting donations, helping to assemble furniture and assisting with lifting items. Shifts vary.
*The Community Recreation Association at CFB Trenton is looking for people to pitch in during kids programs. They are open to volunteers that are interested in facilitating programming. Activities could include sports, crafts, drama, art, science, etc…
*Community Living Prince Edward is seeking program assistant volunteers. Ideally, these placements would be ongoing in regular intervals.
*Gateway Community Health Centre is seeking volunteers on the second Tuesday each month for Good Box Distribution, in Tweed. Duties include organizing and loading the boxes into customer vehicles.
*The Quinte Museum of Natural History in Trenton is looking for volunteers. The team needs people to assist with school programs, workshops, and with events. Orientation and training is provided.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
