The Trenton Golden Hawks have had a great run at the Centennial Cup championship.
The Ontario Junior Hockey League champions won their second Buckland Cup in franchise history earlier this spring to qualify for the Centennial Cup. The national junior hockey championship brings together the top junior teams. Trenton has been to the Buckland Cup final three years in a row, but this is their first year they won the OJHL trophy and qualified for the national event.
Trenton closed out the round robin schedule yesterday with a 6-2 win over the Grande Prairie Storm, representing the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
Trenton is now at the top of the Group A standings. They will watch to see who wins the game today between Grande Prairie and Northern Manitoba. The result of that game will decide whether Trenton has to play in the quarterfinals or skip right into the semifinals, which will be held on Saturday.
