Construction on the watermain and sewer lines in Wellington has been a sour spot for many residents in the village over the last several months.
The project cost for all the updates is coming in at just over $16 million.
Prince Edward County has announced this week that they hope to re-open Wellington’s Main Street where all the work has been happening, on June 1st.
Workers will come back later in the summer to pour the second layer of asphalt on the road. During that time, one lane will be open to traffic.
The team is currently wrapping up installing the new trunk watermain and sewer lines on Cleminson Street.
Millennium Trail will remain closed to the community from Cleminson Street and Belleville Street for now. The trail between Belleville Street and Consecon Street will be closed for the rest of the year.
Belleville Street in Wellington, from Niles Street to north of the Wellington Arena, will be down to one lane again as of Tuesday, May 20th. The road will be down to one lane again until the rest of the week.
