Homelessness
Council has been told that close to $6.5 million dollars is coming from the Ontario government to address homelessness. Half of the money will be split between St Leonard’s, the John Howard Society, and Grace Inn Shelter. Some money will go toward services that local municipalities host, including the winter warming centers. Hastings County will set aside some money in reserves, and provide $500,000 in available funding in the hopes that agencies start a county-wide food distribution centre.
Tech Update
Equipment upgrades will be coming to Hastings County Council Chambers. Council has signed off on hiring Burlington company Maclean Media Systems to install $170,000 worth of new audio and video equipment. Technology in the Council Chamber is currently over 10 years old.
