It’s the season of looking back and embracing the future.
Loyalist College in Belleville will start six days of convocation ceremonies today.
The ceremonies will run at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. today through Friday, and Monday to next Wednesday.
Students who are crossing the stage this year, can find the full schedule online. Grad portraits will be offered first come, first serve, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on ceremony days. The pictures will be done in Room 2L12 on campus.
Loyalist will award four honorary diplomas this year. Lisa Ali, the CEO of the Canadian Mental Health Association Hastings Prince Edward has been chosen, along with Regyna Armonas, who is a former Olympian and OPP officer. Chandy Davis, the co-owner of Electro Cables Inc has been chosen alongside fellow Quinte West business owner Taylor Russett. He runs the Grind and Vine cafe in Trenton, along with his own photography business, and Lafferty’s menswear in downtown Belleville.
Nicole Flynn will receive the Hugh P. O’Neil Outstanding Alumni Award at convocation this year. She is a graduate of the Loyalist College General Arts and Science program. She has Trisomy 21 Down Syndrome, and speaks about her experience at a variety of engagements. Flynn went to Trinidad last year as a keynote speaker for the United Nations World Down Syndrome Day Conference.
The ceremonies will all be live-streamed on the College’s YouTube Channel.
