Volunteers are the backbone of our community. Especially, as we look forward to filling our summer calendar with fun events and festivals. Volunteer Information Quinte is the organization that connects those who raise their hand to help, with organizations in need of workers.
Here is the VIQ Update for this week:
*Plans are well underway for Canada Day activities in Belleville. The City is looking for volunteer face painters to help out on July 1st. Volunteers would work alongside professional artists.
*Empire Rockfest will take place on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26 in downtown Belleville. VIQ is once again looking for volunteers to help out each night from 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. People are needed to check ID’s, scan tickets, provide directors and stage support. Smart Serve volunteers are also required to sell drink tickets and work at the bar area. People are also needed on Thursday, July 24th before the event to help set up the green screen on the fence.
*Bancroft Community Transit and the Prince Edward Community Care For Seniors Association are both looking for volunteer drivers to help clients get to and from medical appointments. These runs may also include stops at the pharmacy, bank, post office or grocery store. Mileage will be reimbursed.
*Drivers are also needed with the Central Hastings Support Network and Community Care South Hastings. Appointments can be local or as far as Kingston and Toronto. Drivers choose which trips they would like to take, but they must have their own vehicle. Mileage will be reimbursed.
*The Community Development Council of Quinte, known as CDC Quinte, is also looking for people behind the wheel. CDC Quinte needs drivers to assist with the Good Food Box program one day a month. There is some heavy lifting! Training will be provided.
