
Many community events we enjoy right now would not be possible without the dedication of countless volunteers.
If you are looking to fill your schedule this summer, or simply get out and meet some new people. Volunteer Information Quinte is the organization that connects you up with groups in need of volunteer support.
Here is the VIQ Update for this week:
*Empire Rockfest will take place on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26 in downtown Belleville. VIQ is once again looking for volunteers to help out each night from 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. People are needed to check ID’s, scan tickets, provide directions and stage support. Smart Serve volunteers are also required to sell drink tickets and work at the bar area. People are also needed on Thursday, July 24th before the event to help set up the green screen on the fence.
*Habitat For Humanity ReStore in Belleville is looking for support. They need volunteers to help out with creating floor displays, customer service and loading and unloading donations.
*Our TMH is seeking volunteers to assist with handing out information to the public regarding the group and events that support the Trenton Memorial Hospital. Morning or afternoon shifts are available. High school students are welcome. Volunteers are required for July 17, 18 and 19 for Festival on the Bay.
*Gleaners Food Bank is in urgent need of a volunteer driver to assist with picking up donations from businesses, along with delivering food boxes to clients and affiliated agencies. Volunteers must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. The time commitment varies from Monday to Friday.
*VIQ is looking for volunteers to assist with bingo games at the Belleville Lions Hall. VIQ runs games in the afternoon and evening. Orientation and training is provided by seasoned volunteers. High School students are welcome.
*Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors is actively recruiting volunteers for their driving program. Volunteer drivers provide door-to-door transportation service to medical appointments and essential shopping. In most instances, the driver will remain with the client to ensure their safe arrival home.
*Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors is also seeking a volunteer receptionist. The time commitment is three hours per week. Duties including answering the phone, directing calls, and general office duties. Orientation is provided.
*Walk back in time at five museums across Prince Edward County. Museums in need of volunteers this year again include the Macaulay House, Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, Wellington Heritage Museum, Mariners Park Museum and the Rose House Museum. You can help out at the front desk, with programs and events.
*The Community Development Council of Quinte, known as CDC Quinte, is looking for volunteer drivers and driving assistants for the Good Food Box program. This position includes some heavy lifting, and driving a cube van once a month on the second and fourth Tuesday.
*The Alternative’s for Women team are looking for community members to assist with Volunteer roles that help to maintain the programming and buildings. Tasks include childcare, providing transportation within PEC, sorting and packaging donations for clients, maintenance around buildings, and assisting with events.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
