A public open house is set for this afternoon at the Quinte West Council Chambers.
Last month, Quinte West Council approved an idea to transform the old College Street School property in Trenton, to affordable housing. The City owns the close to 3-acres of vacant land already.
A team of agencies and local residents have pitched the idea for two 42-unit apartment buildings. The site would be known as the George Street Village. One of the buildings would be reserved for seniors.
Preliminary plans and information will be provided by the team at the open house today from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Rent would be set at least 20% below the average rate, in order to be considered an affordable housing project.
