Volunteer Information Quinte is the organization that connects you up with groups in need of volunteer support.
Here is the VIQ Update for this week:
*Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors is actively recruiting volunteers for their driving program. Volunteer drivers provide door-to-door transportation service to medical appointments and essential shopping. In most cases, the driver will remain with the client to ensure their safe arrival home.
*Community Partners for Success Quinte West is looing for people to help organize donated clothing and items at the thrift shop. People are needed Monday to Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
*BCT-Bringing Communities Together is another organization that is on the hunt for volunteer drivers. Trips can be to Belleville, Bancroft, Kingston, Ottawa and Toronto.
*Community Care North Hastings is looking for drivers to help rural clients get to and from medical appointments and out shopping. Orientation is provided.
*Community Care South Hastings supports people 60 and older living in the broader region. The team is looking for volunteer drivers to help clients in Belleville, Tyendinaga and Deseronto. The team is also looking for drivers to support the Meals on Wheels program.
*Central Hastings Support Network requires volunteers residing in Belleville, to drive Belleville clients to appointments. Appointments could be on any day of the week, anywhere in Belleville, or as far as Kingston or Toronto. Drivers can choose which trips they accept.
*VON Hastings, Northumberland, Prince Edward needs volunteer drivers to take clients to appointments as required. Volunteers will use their own vehicle to provide service to clients. Volunteers will be compensated for kilometers driven. Looking for volunteers that are comfortable driving on the 401 and possibly longer distance drives. Toronto and Kingston; as well as local trips within Belleville, Quinte West and surrounding area.
*All Community Care programs are seeking volunteers to deliver Meals to individuals in their homes Monday to Friday. Time commitment is approximately 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., following a set route. Volunteers pick up meals at a set location and distribute to individuals in the community. This volunteer position ensures seniors have access to healthy meals and few minutes of conversation. Volunteer once a week, once a month or on an on-call basis.
*Highland Shores Children’s Aid Volunteer Drivers support drives in the areas of Belleville, Quinte West through to Cobourg or Port Hope. Volunteer drivers assist staff and foster parents with the safe transportation of the children and adults served by the agency to locations where essential services are provided and no other means of access to the service is available. Drives are Monday to Friday, morning, afternoon or evening with occasional weekend requests.
*St Vincent De Paul in downtown Belleville is seeking volunteers to assist in their warehouse. Tasks include monitoring incoming donations, helping to assemble furniture and performing some minor repairs. Orientation and training is provided by staff.
*Community Living Prince Edward is seeking Program Assistant volunteers. Volunteers share their time to socialize, share interests such as crafts, arts, music, cooking, sharing hobbies, sharing a cup of tea, playing cards, or baking. This is an opportunity to build relationships and share skills. Ideally these placements would be ongoing in regular intervals. Supplies are provided.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
