The National Day For Truth and Reconciliation, Orange Shirt Day, will once again take place on September 30th.
The City of Belleville will host a ceremony at Market Square at 11 a.m. Chief R. Don Maracle, from the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, will be among the speakers. City staff are encouraging residents to wear orange on the day.
The Belleville sign, Bridge Street Bridge, and Belleville Fire Station 1 Memorial Garden, will be lit up in orange for the week.
Staff add in a statement that the Belleville Public Library has created a variety digital and physical displays to encourage those to learn more about indigenous history.
