VIQ is the agency that connects volunteers with organizations in need.
Here is the VIQ update on 91X:
*The Homestead Market in Trenton is once again the site for a Haunted Halloween Maze. VIQ is rallying all the volunteers to help set up, decorate and monitor the maze. Volunteers for setup are needed from October 3rd to 9th. Volunteers are also needed to greet guests when the maze runs every Friday and Saturday up to Halloween. The Haunted Halloween Maze will be open for little goblins and ghouls Friday, October 10th, Saturday, October 11th. Friday, October 17th, Saturday October 18th and Friday, October 24th, Saturday October 25th.
*Hockey season is here! VIQ is looking for folks to help with the 50/50 at Belleville Senators home games this season. Volunteers work in teams selling 50/50 tickets around the CAA Arena. You can choose one game or all.
*Continuing On In Education is looking for bingo volunteers. The organization runs three bingo games each month on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The time commitment is from 5:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Duties including calling back winning bingo numbers and supporting players. Training is provided.
*Victim Services is looking for volunteers to provide support. Volunteers are carefully selected and trained. Volunteers with Victim Services are on-call to emergency services in Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox & Addington Counties, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Volunteers provide on-scene emotional and practical assistance and referrals to community agencies on scene. All victims are treated with dignity, respect, compassion and empathy.
*St. Vincent De Paul thrift shop in Belleville is looking for drivers. The team needs volunteers to drive a cube van to deliver items and pick up donations. Morning and afternoon shifts are required. The time commitment can vary.
*If your skills are in the kitchen, then there is a great opportunity with Hospice Quinte. Volunteers are needed to bake and cook for clients and their families at the Stan Klemencic Care Centre.
*VON is on the hunt for volunteer drivers. The team needs drivers to help clients get to and from appointments, and support the meals on wheels program.
*Community Visions & Networking Quinte is seeking volunteers for their Board of Directors. They are looking for individuals who bring diverse and varied perspectives and are representative of the diverse populations in the Quinte region.
*MADD Quinte is looking for volunteers to hand out free tote bags at grocery stores and collect donations at display tables. Volunteer opportunities are available in Trenton and Belleville.
*Abbeyfield House Society of Prince Edward County is looking for a director of grants and fundraising on their Board of Directors. Volunteers will work with the Board of Directors to identify projects, research and apply for potential grants, ensure all reporting requirements are met, and keep records of all fundraising and grant activities and ensure they are filed appropriately.
*Food for Learning is seeking volunteers for their breakfast and lunch programs in schools. Volunteers can assist with preparation of breakfast, lunch, and/or snacks to serve to children. Other duties include assisting with food prep, setup, and cleanup. Time commitments vary on availability and school location. Opportunities are available at schools across Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
