New CN Yardmen Monument in Belleville

There is a new monument outside the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.

Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis has officially unveiled the new CN Yardmen Memorial. The monument is several years in the making, following funding challenges, and delays with the start of the pandemic.

The monument honors a group of CN employees who came together and donated over $3 million dollars to build the first sports complex on the site back in 1978. The site went under the name, Yardmen Arena, up until 2017, when the Ottawa Senators sold the naming rights to CAA after their AHL team moved in.
