Here is the VIQ update for this week.
*The Quinte West Youth Centre is seeking volunteers for their What’s Cooking? Program. Volunteers are needed on weekday evenings to oversee, encourage skill development, and teach basic kitchen skills to youth. Volunteers that are passionate about healthy cooking, lifestyle development, and youth mentorship are encouraged to apply.
*Bridge Street United Church in Belleville is looking for volunteers for their kitchen prep team for food preparation, cooking, processing, and dish washing. Volunteers are needed on Saturdays to process bread and bakery items from 9 am – 10:30 am and on weekdays as needed for processing donated vegetables for freezing.
*The Alzheimer’s Society of Hastings-Prince Edward is seeking volunteers for their in-home activation program. Volunteers work with clients as little as 1 visit per week for 12 weeks at a time to complete puzzles, word games, baking, walking, and socializing. Volunteers are needed across ASHPE’s catchment area, from Bancroft to Prince Edward County, and Brighton to Tyendinaga. Volunteers must be available during weekdays between 8:30 and 4:30.
*The Humane Society of Hastings and Prince Edward are looking for volunteer animal foster families. Volunteers provide a safe environment for animals to recover from mental trauma or injuries, sometimes for long periods of time. Applications are required.
*The Central Hastings Support Network is looking for food bank volunteers in Madoc. Volunteers are required to assist with packing and distribution of food boxes on a weekly, bi-weekly, or call-in basis during the weekdays. Instruction and training are provided.
*The Community Development Council of Quinte is seeking volunteers for bingos in the afternoon and/or evenings on weekdays. Shifts are flexible based on availability, and cash honorariums are provided.
*YourTV / Cogeco is looking for mobile production volunteers to assist with set up and tear down, cameras, production, etc. at various sites for show production. Training is available onsite.
*Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association is looking for volunteers to deliver groceries/essential items to seniors. Volunteers provide free pick-up and delivery of groceries, medicines, library books, and other essential items available through PECC. A car is required for pickup/delivery.
*Gift from the Heart is seeking volunteers to develop and implement content for their website and social media platforms to increase audience engagement and drive donors. Volunteers can schedule their time based on their availability and work remotely.
*Scouts Canada 1st Bay of Quinte Group is seeking volunteers. People help run exciting, hands-on programs for youth ages 5-17 in a safe and welcoming environment. You will help plan and lead games, mentor youth, and work as part of a team to create a safe and inclusive space for everyone. Vulnerable sector check and references are required.
*Stirling Musical Instrument Lending Library (Stirling MILL) is seeking volunteers to transport instruments. Volunteers transport instruments between Stirling MILL and their partner library locations in Belleville, Quinte West, North, and Centre Hastings as required. Volunteers must own their own vehicle.
*Community Care South Hastings is looking for volunteer drivers to escort seniors to and from medical appointments. Volunteers must have their own vehicle and provide a clean driving abstract and vulnerable sector check. Mileage is reimbursed.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
