
Volunteers are the backbone of our community. If you are looking to get out and about this spring, meet some new people, or share your skills, many organizations need help. Especially if you are a high school student looking to get your volunteer hours by June.
Here is the Volunteer Information Quinte Update for this week:
*Community Development Council of Quinte, known as CDC Quinte, is looking for volunteers to collect and distribute Good Food Box once a month at their Frankford location. Volunteers are responsible for collecting cash, submitting orders received online and setting up the area for pick up days. The Frankford Good Food Box depot is located in the Christian Reformed Church in Frankford. Volunteers are needed on the 4th Tuesday of each month.
*Food to Share in Prince Edward County is looking for volunteers to lead or assist with cooking sessions at their locations in Picton, Wellington, Bloomfield, and Sophiasburgh. Each session is about three hours.
*The Grace Inn Shelter in Belleville is looking for volunteers to serve late meals and help clean up the kitchen. The program runs from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekdays.
*Gateway Community Health Centre is looking for volunteers to assist Grade 2 and Grade 3 students with reading in Tweed. Reading materials are provided, and high school students are welcome to volunteer!
*St. Vincent de Paul in Belleville is seeking volunteers to assist in their warehouse. Volunteers accept incoming donations, assist with assembling furniture and other minor fixes. Some lifting is required. The scheduling is flexible.
*The National Air Force Museum of Canada in Trenton, is looking for folks to help support museum programs and activities for children and cadets.
*The Children’s Safety Village in Belleville is looking for volunteers to join their Capital Campaign Committee, as the team looks for a new site for the village.
*Kentwood Park Nursing Home in Picton is looking for volunteers to visit with residents. Engaging in conversation, playing cards, doing puzzles, and sharing stories are a few options you can participate in with residents. Weekday and weekend opportunities are available.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
