Full burn ban in Prince Edward County as of Wednesday

Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue has announced a full burn ban..

The restriction on all fires, including burn barrels, and campfires will be in place as of April 1st.

Firefighters add that cooking devices designed to cook food with wood pellets or charcoal (like smokers or grills) will be permitted for use. Outdoor fireplaces and fuel-fired appliances using propane or natural gas are exempt from the ban.

The team adds that spring grass dries quick, making it a fire risk, and the soft wet ground can make it difficult for fire vehicles in an event of an issue.
