Mariah Carey dropped a bombshell on Twitter in September. Here’s her tweet
“fun fact I did an alternative album while I was making “Daydream” just for
laughs but it got me through some dark days shout out to my friend Clarissa who performs the lead with me as a hidden layer”
She wrote in her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey “I was exploring my musical range, but I was also filled with rage, It’s always been a challenge for me to acknowledge and express anger. My personal life was suffocating during Daydream, and I was in desperate need of release. I created an alter-ego artist and her Ziggy Stardust-like spoof band.”
In 1995 the album called “Someone’s Ugly Daughter” by the band Chick was released.
The day after revealing Chick’s secret history, Carey added that she was on “a quest to unearth the version of this album with my lead vocals on it,” promising a future where Chick would available in full.
The album is on the rise overseas on the ALT and Rock charts.
