Gleaners Food Bank is launching their “12 Days of Giving” event starting tomorrow until December 12.
Executive Director Suzanne Quinlan told 91X this morning, that this is a creative way for donations. The food bank was not able to hold their annual food drive due to the pandemic. That event typically raises 15 tonnes of food for Gleaners.
Here is the list of items that Gleaner’s would like residents to focus on right now, as these items are crucial and added to each hamper:
December 1 – Peanut Butter
December 2 – Dry Pasta
December 3 – Canned Pasta Sauce
December 4 – Macaroni & Cheese
December 5 – Canned Tuna or Salmon
December 6 – Canned Vegetables
December 7 – Canned Fruit
December 8 – Apple Juice
December 9 – Pork N’ Beans
December 10 – Gluten Free Items
December 11 – Sugar Free Items
December 12 – Hygiene Products
Residents are encouraged to collect these items, and drop them off in a box or bag to Gleaner’s located at 25 Wallbridge Crescent in Belleville.
Quinlan says that it’s been difficult for staff to collect food as grocery stores have to manage their own supplies for the immediate area. Staff are currently looking at buying from wholesalers in the Toronto region.
