Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at Proctor and Gamble and Belleville.
Public Health noted in a press release this morning, that nine cases are connected to the facility.
Staff with P&G Belleville and HPEPH are currently working together to identify individuals who were at the facility between November 15 and November 25.
Officials note that several high-risk contacts have been instructed to self-isolate and get tested.
“Once tested, they are required to remain in quarantine for 14 days after their exposure, regardless of the test result,” noted HPEPH.
“While the risk to the community from this outbreak is considered low at this time, it serves as an important reminder to residents of Hastings Prince Edward to continue to follow public health guidance at all times, whether in the workplace, out in the community or at home,” said Dr. Piotr Oglaza, medical officer of health with HPEPH.
He noted that P&G Belleville manufactures feminine hygiene and incontinence products, but they pose no risk of transmission to the public and are safe for use.
Mutazz Akour, the Senior Director at the P&G Belleville, noted that they will continue to assist public health with contact tracing. He noted that since the start of the pandemic, they have worked “collaboratively” together to implement safety protocols.
