The site for an affordable housing project in Wellington has received a boost from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
Staff with Prince Edward County announced today that the County’s Affordable Housing Corporation has received $180,000 in seed funding.
“This is a significant milestone in this important project, and we look forward to moving ahead with the creation of new affordable rental housing in Prince Edward County,” said Charles Dowdall, executive director of PECAHC.
The County’s Affordable Housing Corporation is working on plans to add an affordable rental complex, at the site of the former Wellington arena on Niles Street.
The plan is to start construction at the end of this year. Public consultations are expected to start over the summer.
