Motown has lost one of its brightest stars,
Mary Wilson, who was one of the founding members of The Supremes died earlier this week at the age of 76.
She signed with Motown Records in 1961. The founder of the label, Berry Gordy called her the “heart and soul” of the group.
Earlier on in her career, Wilson was apart of the Primettes based in Detroit. The at first featured Diana Ross, Betty McGlown and Florence Ballard before they signed a record deal.
McGowan left the group before the trio became known as The Supremes. The group had a total of a dozen No. 1 hits on the charts. In 1988 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
