Photojournalist Chris Donovan joined us recently to talk about what his career since graduating the Photojournalism program at Loyalist College in 2017.
His work about a basketball team in Flint, Michigan earned him a World Press Photo award this year in the sports stories category. His project is called “Those Who Stay Will Be Champions.” The photo essay was also nominated in the Story of the Year category.
Here’s our full interview with Donovan about why he was drawn to Flint, what keeps him wanting to go back, and how it’s shaped his view of the job.
He also shares some tips that his teachers at Loyalist shared with him. Donovan is currently back in his home province of New Brunswick working on his Master’s degree.
