Loyalist College has announced that they will be proceeding at full capacity in September.
The news comes as the Ministry of Colleges and Universities announced last week, that all post secondary institutions should be prepared to return to hosting all activities with no capacity limits. The Ministry indicated that plans must be in place in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak.
Loyalist College President and CEO, Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, said in a statement that the College will return to their program delivery before the pandemic which includes in-person, alternate delivery and hybrid models. The College has been approved to proceed with no capacity limits or physical distancing requirements.
“As it is important that we remain flexible, each program will have a continuing education plan should a local outbreak or emergency occur,” added Vaughan.
She noted that entrance on campus will not depend if a person is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The College has implemented a rule that those who will be in Residence and on Varsity teams must be fully vaccinated. Staff will be providing more information to athletes later on.
“It is our expectation that all students and employees who plan to access our campuses in person this Fall will be fully vaccinated,” said Vaughan.
Loyalist considers that a fully vaccinated person is someone who has received both doses of a Canada approved vaccine and has received their second dose over the 14-day period.
The College will also be operating an immunization clinic at the Student Health Centre as of August 30th.
“We know that the pandemic has been a different experience for everyone, and returning to campus will be met with mixed emotions. As we stated back in May, we remain committed to supporting remote work arrangements where they make sense operationally. And, we are here to support those who work on campus through this transition every step of the way. Please keep an eye on loyalistcollege.com for the Fall 2021 Roadmap, which will guide you in your return to campus, and visit our COVID-19 Information Centre for pandemic-related updates,” said Vaughan.
