Environment Canada’s heat warning remains in place today for Belleville, Quinte West and Northumberland County.
It’s going to feel like 40 degrees here in Belleville.
The City has announced that cooling centres will remain open through till Thursday. COVID-19 precautions and screening will be in place.
- Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre – open from 10 am to 6 pm
- Belleville Public Library – open from 11 am to 7 pm.
Staff activate the cooling centres when temperatures hit above 30 Celsius or 35 Celsius with the humidity, for two straight days. The splash pads at Riverside, Parkdale, and Kinsmen Parks are also an option.
Staff with the City of Quinte West have their cooling centre open as well through till Sunday. Residents can head over to the Duncan McDonald Memorial Arena in Trenton for a bit of relief. The centre is open from 8 am to 7 pm daily.
Splash pads are also open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily in both Trenton and Frankford.
