Belleville Firefighters continue to celebrate the holiday season with their annual toy drive.
The Belleville Professional Firefighters toy drive has helped roughly 1,500 children each year over the holidays.
The toys for all different age groups are distributed to families who have signed up to be a part of the Christmas Sharing Program.
To donate:
- Purchase a new unwrapped toy, game or book. Anything you might think a kid would enjoy receiving for Christmas
- Drop off your items anytime at the Belleville Fire Stations located at 60 Bettes St. and 72 Moira St. West.
- The Quinte Mall and Bayview Mall also have donation bins.
- Donations are being accepted right up until Christmas Eve.
People dropping off toys at the fire halls will be receiving a free combination carbon monoxide and smoke alarm. The donation is courtesy of Enbridge Gas through their Project Zero campaign.
“As we enter the holiday season and the risk of house fires increases, we want to make sure that all residents have access to the necessary tools to keep themselves and their homes safe. Ensuring you have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors at home is one of the best ways you can protect yourself and your family. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season, and look forward to speaking more with members of the community about fire safety over the next few weeks,” said Monique Belair, Director of Belleville Fire and Emergency Services and Fire Chief.
