Spring has just arrived and already the Emerald Ash Borer is causing problems.
The invasive species from Asia has been in the headlines the last couple of years.
Just like the gypsy moths, the Emerald Ash Borer has been causing some problems for the trees.
Quinte Conservation has announced that starting today, the Orchard Trail within the Potter’s Creek Conversation Area is closed. The stretch of trail at the Belleville conservation area is closed due to the Emerald Ash Borer creating some havoc on the ash trees. Some dead trees have created a safety risk at the local trail.
Staff expect the trail to be closed for a few weeks so they can clean up the mess. Quinte Conservation continues to try to work this year to preserve the Ash trees and manage the impact from the Emerald Ash Borer.
