Boaters may have to change their routes starting today along the Trent-Severn Waterway.
Parks Canada is closing some locks as the region continues to experience high water levels and flows.
The partial closures will be in place until further notice. Boaters continue to be encouraged to drive slow and watch the wake. This helps prevent soil erosion along shorelines and helps prevent property damage.
“Residents around Lock 19 – Scotts Mills will see a controlled breach of the construction site at the dam over the weekend to aid in the movement of water down the Otonabee River. This will be a controlled breach with no danger to public safety,” noted Parks Canada in a statement this week..
Here’s the new map from Parks Canada that outlines the status of locks right now.
