While many students are looking forward to the start of summer, the local United Way is already gearing up to help everyone in the fall.
United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is launching a new program called “Backpacks For Success.”
It is designed to help families get the tools and equipment their children need in the classroom. The program is open for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Families in need of support can sign up for the program online as of today. Those who can’t register online can visit a pop-up location in-person. Registration closes on Friday, July 8. Backpacks are available for $12 each. There is a limit on how much is being offered, so make sure you get your name in early.
“The first 1000 students registered will receive a backpack; equipping students with the tools they need and preparing them for success in school. Helping kids be all they can be sets the foundation for a successful future,” said Melanie Cressman, Director of Donor Relations, in a statement.
