The Trenton Golden Hawks have traded three players for one veteran.
The local OJHL team has announced this week that they have made a deal with the Markham Royals.
Brothers Justin and Devin Mauro, along with goaltender Will Nguyen will be off to Markham, in exchange for the rights to Mitch LaFay and player development fees.
“This was a big trade, one where we gave up some strong pieces. Having said that, this move is one I believe will make us a better club. The Mauro brothers are both fine young men, they brought a lot of offensive skill, and will make Markham more skilled up front. Will Nguyen is a strong goaltender and an even better young man. We thank Justin, Devin, and Will for their commitment to the Golden Hawks and the Quinte West community. We wish them nothing but the best in their endeavour,” said Trenton Head Coach and GM Jerome Dupont, in a statement.
LaFay spent time with the Jamestown Rebels in the NAHL where he scored 25 points. The 19-year-old forward from Stratford was with the Cobourg Cougars in the OJHL back before the pandemic.
