In Touch With Quinte – Belleville Police Service, Community Support Officers

Earlier this month, Belleville Police Service announced that their Liaison Officers are now known as Community Support Officers.

The team consisting of Sergeant Mike Doucette, Constable Nick Gervais and Constable Brittney Blake, work with other community partners to help support those who are experiencing addiction, mental health and homelessness issues.

The officers work closely with Sara Behring, as a part of the Welcoming Street outreach program. The program is run through the Belleville Downtown District BIA. The business association recently asked Belleville council to consider more funding to support the program long-term.

Sergeant Doucette and Constable Gervais joined us this week on 91X to talk about their role in the community.
