Prince Edward County is changing some meetings around due to the passing of a well known leader in the community.
Mayor Steve Ferguson has announced that the Regular Council meeting on Tuesday will be moved to Wednesday at 7 p.m.
He says that this is out of respect for Gary Fox,who died late last week.
Fox was a Prince Edward County councillor, Reeve of Sophiasburgh Township, and served as the MPP for Prince Edward Lennox-South Hastings from 1995 to 1999.
“I was deeply saddened when I learned about the passing of Gary Fox. Gary was a highly regarded member of our local community. He served his constituents with grace and dignity and certainly set an outstanding example for us around the Council table to follow,” said Mayor Steve Ferguson, in a statement.
The Fox family has announced that a visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wellington Community Centre. The funeral will take place at the Community Centre on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Prince Edward County will hold its Regular Council meeting later that day at 7 p.m. at the Highline Hall, attached to the Community Centre. The Special Council Meeting that was scheduled on Wednesday will be moved to Tuesday, December 20 at the Highline Hall.
