New Physician Recruitment Program in Prince Edward County

Prince Edward County is kicking off the new year with their own doctor recruitment program.

Quinte Health, Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Prince Edward Family Health Team have all teamed up with the municipality.

The new County Docs Physician Retention and Recruitment Program will continue to help address the critical doctor shortage.

The team have announced in a joint statement this week, that there are 18 family doctors currently caring for over 25,0000 county patients.

Some of the reasons for the shortage includes the pandemic, lack of students enrolling to become family doctors, and a shortage to begin with. The area is already short five doctors, and will be down three more later this year.
