Donate a new socks and make a difference!
The 20K Sock Day campaign for this year ends on Friday.
Loyalist College Professor Nick Foley and the team have been collecting socks to donate to shelters. The initiative started in 2019 to create awareness about homelessness in Canada. Socks are one of those items that are donated the least in shelters across the country.
Here is home much has been donated to the cause:
- 2019 – 28,066 pairs of socks.
- 2020 – 67,215 pairs of socks.
- 2021 – 169,757 items (socks, clothing, food, PPE).
- 2022 – 47,118 pairs of socks.
Here is how to get involved this year:
- Collect new socks (Get your family and friends involved too!
- Donate to a shelter or similar organization in your area.
- Tell the team your number on or before February 17 to be included in this year’s total.
If you are at Loyalist College in Belleville, you can drop them off outside of the gym or the Public Relations – Event Management program office.
