The Community Development Council of Quinte has teamed up with Loyalist College this week, which is Kindness Week.
CDC Quinte has announced in a statement, that 175 residents in Belleville received something special when they received their Meals on Wheels order this week. The team provided everyone with a bag of fresh fruit and a recipe card to make a fruit salad.
The initiative was done ahead of National Random Acts of Kindness Day tomorrow.
“National Random Acts of Kindness Day is meant to inspire people to be generous and kind as doing so brings happiness to both the giver and the receiver. Given the high cost of food, particularly fruit, we wanted to celebrate this day by providing fresh produce to the people who receive Meals on Wheels,” said Ruth Ingersoll, Executive Director of CDC Quinte.
Local residents also received a postcard in the bag from the Home Share Loyalist program. The new program is designed to help students who need a place to live, and provide older adults with some company around the house and extra money from renting a room.
