Quinte West has increased the price of garbage bag tags.
Today, the cost of a tag has gone up by 50 cents to $3 each.
Staff say in a statement that each year it costs the City $3.5 million to deal with garbage and recycling collection. Property taxes only cover 40% of the cost, at $1.4 million. Garbage bag tags help bridge the gap.
