The Unlikely Candidates started coming together in 2008 when singer Kyle Morris and guitarist Cole Male started playing as an acoustic group.
Since signing to Atlantic Records initially in 2013, the now has three EP’s out. Joining Morris and Male is lead guitarist Brenton Carney, drummer Kevin Goddard, and bassist Jared Hornbeek.
They’re continuing another leg of shows in the U.S tonight, in Brooklyn, New York. The band has shows scheduled right up until the middle of November which will see them opening for acts like the Goo Goo Dolls, and Mariana’s Trench.
Singer Kyle Morris was interviewed by “Madness to Creation” back in April, about the meaning behind the new single “Novocaine” and some of the challenges writing that tune.
“The song is about indulging in a slackery lifestyle. Lamenting it a little bit but sort of accepting that you are a bit of a loser. It was challenging I suppose because there is a lot of me in it, so it was a bit weird to put it out there.”
