The Belleville Senators have announced the winner of their Man of the Year Award.
Egor Sokolov has won the club’s year-end award. The 22-year-old from Russia is being praised for his contributions off the ice.
“He goes way above and beyond team-mandated public appearance. Fans and kids in particular, gravitate towards him, just because he’s so open to talking to people. He’s so down to earth and will talk to anybody. He’s a great, solid human being,” said Head Coach David Bell, in a statement.
Sokolov dressed up as a clown for a Rotary Club fundraiser, was apart of the Belleville Santa Claus Parade, and a variety of school and community programs.
He is one of 32 finalists across the league for the AHL’s 2022-23 Yanick Dupré Memorial Award. The Man of the Year Award is league-wide. The winner will be announced today.
