Semisonic are back!
They’ve announced their first new full-length album in 22 years!
If you only know Semisonic for their massive hit Closing Time, let’s get you caught up real quick. They formed in 1995, releasing 3 albums before breaking up in 2001.
Semiconic reunited for their debut album’s 20th anniversary back in 2017 and released a new EP in 2020 called You’re Not Alone.
Now, frontman Dan Wilson talked about what opened him up to writing new songs, and he said it was Liam Gallagher of Oasis! Who would have thought?
Apparently, Liam and Dan had a long chat about writing songs, and then Liam showed him one of the new songs he was working on, and Dan thought it sounded a lot like his old band Semisonic!
So that was the jolt of energy Dan needed, their new album is called Little Bit of Sun, which I think everyone can appreciate, and they shared the lead single called The Rope.
There’s more songs off the album that seem to talk about how Semisonic have been gone for a while, with new songs like Don’t Fade Away, Out of the Dirt, It Wasn’t Like We Hoped it to Be and more.
Semisonic’s first full album in 22 years, Little Bit of Sun, also features Jason Isbell and My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, and it drops November 3rd.
