A variety of community organizations are looking for drivers, as we get ready for fall.
Here is the Volunteer Information Quinte Update for this week:
- Bancroft Community Transit, The Prince Edward Community Care For Seniors Association, and Central Hastings Support Network are all looking for people to help clients get out to medical appointments and out to essential shopping. Mileage is reimbursed. Trips may be as far as Kingston or Toronto.
- Community Care South Hastings is also looking for some people to help transport seniors to medical appointments both regionally, and as far as Ottawa and Toronto. Staff are also looking for people to deliver fresh and frozen meals to seniors.
- Community Care Central Hastings needs people to help with the Meals on Wheels program in Madoc, Marmora, Stirling and Tweed. Volunteers follow a set route and deliveries are made between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Volunteers are also required for the Transportation program . Mileage is reimbursed.
- If you like to drive around the county, the Prince Edward Community Care For Seniors Association could use your help. They need people to deliver meals and do some grocery shopping. The time commitment can be as little as one hour a week.
- VON’s Meals on Wheels program needs support. The team is looking for drivers and those who want to tag along, to help transport all the meals. The time commitment is once a week for an hour on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. The time slot is from 11 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are also required for the Transportation program. Mileage is reimbursed.
- The Canadian Cancer Society is looking for drivers to help transport cancer patients to and from appointments. Full requirements will be revealed during a phone interview. Training is provided and mileage will be reimbursed. The schedule is flexible.
- Gleaners Food Bank is seeking volunteer drivers to pick-up donations at various location throughout Belleville. Assistance are also needed in the trucks to help move items. Heavy lifting is involved. Orientation and training provided
- The Community Development Council of Quinte (CDC Quinte) is looking for people to help with their Good Food Bag program. Volunteer positions include drivers, drivers’ assistants, packers, taking phone calls, and cleaning. There is some heavy lifting involved but full training is provided.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
