St.Catharines Fire Dispatch is now handling emergency and fire dispatch services in Quinte West.
The transition starts today, after the two communities inked a deal.
Belleville Fire and Emergency Services had been taking Quinte West calls for the last three years.
Quinte West staff note today, that the deal with St.Catharines will prepare the local community to transition to the CRTC’s mandatory Next Gen 911 system.
“Our dedicated team of first responders is always ready to serve, and this new dispatch service will help us respond even more effectively and efficiently in emergency situations. We look forward to working closely with St. Catharines Fire Service to ensure the highest level of service for our residents,” said Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan, in a statement.
Over the summer, Prince Edward County agreed to transition their fire dispatch to St. Catharines. Belleville Council decided earlier this month to outsource their dispatch to Peterborough.
