Belleville Police have released the following statement this morning, following an attempted abduction yesterday.
Request for assistance – attempted abduction
The Belleville Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance after a reported attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl in the city’s east end Wednesday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m. the female was walking on Southview Avenue when she was approached by an adult male driving a white car.
The male asked her to get into his vehicle and when she refused, he reportedly jumped out and attempted to physically pull her into the vehicle.
The teenager was able to break free and call police for assistance. Officers responded to the area, however the male and vehicle were not located. The male is described as approximately six feet tall, medium build with short dark facial hair and operating a white sedan.
