Enchanted Returns to the Downtown District
BELLEVILLE – Downtown Belleville and the City of Belleville are gearing up for another magical holiday season with a two-weekend special event in the Downtown District! Enchanted in the Downtown District will take place on the weekends of Dec. 1 to 2, and 8 to 9 and will feature all kinds of festive fun.
The event will kick off on Friday, Dec. 1 with the lighting of the downtown core and the start of the festivities. Beginning at 3 p.m., residents will have the opportunity to visit Santa’s Workshop at Loyalist Accelerate (249 Front St.) for photos with the big guy himself, crafts and activities at the Kids’ Corner, and the Welcoming Streets Wrapping Station – a program which gives shoppers the opportunity to have their gifts beautifully wrapped by members of the Welcoming Street team and local support agencies, by donation. In addition to monetary contributions, item donations will be collected at the station for those in need including new or gently-used clothing, quality winter items and jackets, footwear, packaged snacks and granola bars, first aid supplies, socks and underwear, hygiene products, sunscreen, hats, backpacks and bottled waters. Santa’s Workshop will remain open from 3 to 7 p.m. on both Fridays.
Throughout the day on Friday, Dec. 1 and 8, participating downtown restaurants and cafes will offer signature festive beverages, cocktails or mocktails as part of the Enchanted Holiday Hop. Those taking part in a night out will also enjoy special appearances by Sizzling Santas and Elves from 6 to 9 p.m., creating the perfect opportunity for festive selfies.
On Saturday, Dec. 2 and 9, Market Square will come alive from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with free, family-friendly, festive fun including ornament and wreath crafting, s’more making, Magical Reindeer Food crafts, and more. Later on, horse and carriage rides will run throughout the beautifully adorned streets between 4 and 7 p.m., with pick up at Market Square.
Throughout both Enchanted weekends, shoppers can also take advantage of the Holiday Passport program for a chance to win a $1,000 gift card for the Downtown District. Passports can be picked up at any downtown business or supporting local merchants throughout the event.
