The Belleville Downtown District BIA has released the following statement today about one of our favourite events.
“It’s that time of year again! The much-anticipated Savour The Chill soup competition is making a triumphant return to the heart of downtown Belleville for its 20th year. This culinary extravaganza, featuring 20 downtown restaurants, promises to be a celebration of community, camaraderie, and, of course, delicious soup!
The 20th edition of Savour the Chill is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 24th, from 12pm to 3pm. Regardless of the weather, Downtown Belleville will be buzzing with the savoury aroma of diverse soups. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own spoons to reduce waste and prepare for a delightful culinary adventure. Forgot your spoon? No problem! Come find the Downtown Belleville booth outside century place to purchase your Spoon kit. All proceeds from the selling of spoons will go to The Community of Development Council of Quinte (CDC).
Participating downtown restaurants include Sweet Retreat, Frost Bubble Bliss, L’auberge de France, The Upfront Gallery and Cafe, Bourbon Street Pizza, Tiger Chicken and Ribs, “Bay Leaf” aka Export Grill, Burger Revolution, Capers, The Smokin 116 Bistro, Tropical Blends, The Lark, Quinte Corners, Paulos/Dinkles, Toro Sushi, Gourmet Diem, City Belle Pub, Obis Kitchen, Belleville House of Prayer and Mr Zeds.
This year’s event will continue its tradition of the People’s Choice Award, voted by soup samplers, and the Judges’ Choice Award, determined by a panel of esteemed judges from our passionate community including our very own mayor of Belleville, Neil Ellis, Belleville Police Chief Mike Callaghan, Chef Karin from Loyalist college, Hardik from Belleville International, and Brenda Foran from Pop Ups on the Bay (and the person who started Savour The Chill)! You can vote for your favourite soup using a QR code at participating restaurants, or check out our website and social media pages for voting details!
Speaking of community involvement, Savour the Chill is excited to announce partnerships with the CDC and Belleville Downtown DocFest, who will be pausing all films during Savour The Chill, making this a fun-filled community event.
Savour the Chill embodies the spirit of our strong, safe, and vibrant community. With passionate business owners, residents, community members, and chefs eager to showcase their soup skills, this event promises to be exactly what our community needs. Join us for a delightful afternoon in Downtown Belleville – have fun, be kind, and enjoy the incredible flavours of Savour the Chill.
