The Rotary Club of Belleville has released the following statement this week.
The 22nd annual Rotary Loves Kids Golf Tournament followed by the much anticipated Party in the Square was a huge success once again! 145 golfers hit the links at Black Bear Ridge Golf & Resort to play a round of golf and support worthwhile community causes at the same time. Younger golfers were also able to swing their clubs and have fun at NINE Golf.
The event then moved to The George Zegouras Market Square in downtown Belleville where the crowd was moving to tunes played by local band, The Impish Grins with Scotty Lalonde providing DJ support throughout the night.
For 22 years, this event has raised almost $2 million for several causes that benefit local children including The Children’s Foundation's Reach for Success Awards Program, Belleville General Hospital’s Children’s Treatment Centre, the YMCA Centre for Life, Food For Learning, and Easter Seals’ Camp Merrywood. The funds raised have also allowed area secondary school students to participate in projects in places such as Jamaica. These critical funds have helped a variety of kids in the Quinte area. Specifically, it provides health and wellness support, vital financial resources needed to pursue their educational hopes and dreams, camps and recreational activities for children with disabilities, and much more.
Committee Chair Shannon Neely commented “on behalf of the Rotary Loves Kids Golf Tournament Party in the Square committee I would like to thank all of our sponsors, volunteers and supporters who helped make this our 22nd annual fundraising event a huge success. The true benefit of our community's efforts are the Kids in Quinte, Thank You!” Rotary Club of Belleville President Karen Baker added “It was a glorious day, and it was my privilege to welcome the golfers to Black Bear Ridge Golf & Resort as they arrived at hole 15 and to thank them for their ongoing support of the Rotary Club of Belleville projects. I especially wish to thank our new sponsors and donors who have seen the impact that the funds make in the community and beyond and have decided to add to that impact”.
It was a great experience for everyone who took time to celebrate our community in support of great causes.
