This is the lead single from Melina Duterte’s third album, Anak Ko which means “My Child” in Tagalog. The 25-year-old musician, who is the daughter of Filipino immigrants, grew up in the suburbs of Oakland before moving to Los Angeles a few years ago to continue her journey in music. She cites her parents cultural background as a major influence in her music. A self-taught guitarist, she started writing songs at the age of 12, then picked up the trumpet and started playing that throughout high school. She first got recognition on Bandcamp in 2015, where she posted nine tracks under the name untitled. Before too long she played all the instruments on her debut album called “Everybody Works” which was released in 2017.
