The committee behind the Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair has issued the following statement this morning.
The annual Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair (QRSTF) is set to spark curiosity and innovation on April 5th, 2025, at Centennial Secondary School. Registration is now open until March 29th. Students across the region are invited to showcase their scientific prowess and technological ingenuity.
This year’s fair highlights the importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education in nurturing the next generation of thinkers and innovators. Participants will be competing for various prizes, awards and scholarships, while also gaining invaluable experience in presenting their projects to a diverse audience.
“QRSTF emphasizes the importance of experimental inquiry and problem-solving,” said Scott Berry, co-chair of the fair. “It’s an opportunity for students to apply what they’ve learned, while gaining confidence in their abilities to promote meaningful projects.”
A standout feature of the fair will be the public viewing session, scheduled from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, where community members, friends, and families can explore the interesting projects developed by budding scientists and engineers. From groundbreaking environmental solutions to engaging technology-based creations, there will be something exciting for everyone.
In addition to eager participants, the QRSTF team is actively seeking judges to help evaluate the projects. “We need volunteers from various scientific and technical backgrounds to assess the projects and provide feedback,” said Berry. “It’s a rewarding experience and a chance to inspire young learners.”
Those interested in serving as judges are encouraged to visit the QRSTF website for more information on how to participate. It’s a fantastic opportunity to engage with the community and support the future leaders of science and technology.
Cameron Chisholm, a QRSTF and CWSF alumni states, “Participating in the science fair was an incredibly valuable experience, even as someone who chose to pursue a non-STEM post-secondary degree. The science fair taught me skills applicable to any field, including researching, confidence in presenting, and creative problem-solving. “
With registration open until March 29th, interested students are encouraged to sign up early to secure their spots. Detailed guidelines and project submission requirements are available online to assist participants in preparing impactful projects.
The Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair promises to be a thrilling event that not only celebrates young talent but also shines a light on the critical role that science and technology play in shaping our future. Join us at Centennial Secondary School on April 5th to take a step into tomorrow and witness how our youth are creatively tackling today’s challenges.
