Here is the VIQ Update for this week:
*Victorian Order of Nurses Hastings Northumberland Prince Edward Community Corporation supports VON programs by fund raising, advocating on behalf of VON in the community, monitoring funded programs and strategic planning. They are seeking volunteer directors who are interested in addressing health and social needs. Directors attend the monthly board meeting and sit on at least one committee, time commitment is maximum 3 hours per month. Committees include governance, fund development, advocacy and finance.
*Quinte Validity & Social Support (QVSS) is a non-profit agency that serves adults with developmental disabilities through day programs. They are seeking energetic community minded individuals with a wide range of skills to join their board as they begin a new phase with the agency. Applications are being accepted for review. Prospective applicants will be invited to attend a board meeting for an interview.
*Community Care Prince Edward County is seeking reception volunteers for the office in Picton and for foot care clinic in Wellington. Computer experience is required, Training and orientation and support is provided. They also require thrift shop volunteers for their Picton store this is a very social volunteer placement that appeals to both men and women; online orientation is offered and mentoring with a long-time volunteer once in the shop is provided. Time commitment is a 3-hour shift per week.
*Belleville Quinte West Community Health Centre is a community-based primary health organization that provides a wide range of programs and services to improve the health and well- being of people who live in the community. The Centre has a Site in Quinte West and one in Belleville. They are looking for individuals who have an idea for an activity and are interested in gifting their time to provide programs in nutrition, physical activity or social well-being to clients.
*VON Community Care Quinte West requires volunteer drivers to take clients to appointments both locally and long distance. Volunteers will use their own vehicle to provide service to clients reimbursement provided. They are also seeking volunteers to assist with the Meals on Wheels program in Trenton area, meals are delivered Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 pm.
*Belmont Long term Care in Belleville is seeking volunteers to in 2 areas Resident Assistant – to assist residents from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Responsibilities would include being available to Residents and families if they have questions or concerns and relaying this information to staff members. Providing easy games and 1:1 visits with Residents. Training will be provided. Activity Aids – volunteer opportunities including meal assistance, portering, assisting with activities including crafts, bingo, parties, outings, reading groups, cards, and special events. We also have residents who would enjoy one to one visits, reading, knitting, etc. They operate seven days a week between the hours of 9am and 8pm. Come by for an hour or two or stay for the day and enjoy an activity with residents.
*Abigail’s is seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to work in the Babies and Beyond program once a week on Thursday afternoons. Duties will include: Participating in all care routines, caring for child care equipment, set-up and take down activity area returning items to their storage place, maintaining an organized activity area, assist with planned activities.
*Quinte Symphony is seeking a volunteer to take photos during live local concerts. They are usually indoor, afternoon events. Credit will be given to photographer on all mediums where photos appear.
*Community Living Prince Edward is looking for social individuals who would like to volunteer their time to socialize, share interests such as crafts, arts, music, cooking, sharing hobbies, sharing a cup of tea, playing cards, or baking. This is an opportunity to build relationships and share skills.
*Bridge Street United Church in downtown Belleville is looking for people to support their lunch program. The team prepares lunches for the most vulnerable in our community, on Saturdays and Sundays. One person is needed on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., and two more volunteers are desperately needed again on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
